Three main structural components of a typical cell the plasma membrane, cytoplasm, and nucleus
Bone structure: compact bone (osteocyte) central canal: blood vessels, lymphatic vessels trabeculae  red bone marrow: platelets, red blood cells, and white blood cells
4 major tissues: Epithelial tissue: covers and protects the body surface Connective tissue: connects and holds together Muscle tissue: produces movement Nervous tissue: generates complex messages that coordinate the body functions
What causes osmotic pressure to develop in a cell? High concentration of macromolecules, which pulls water from outside the cell into the cell
Functions of the skin: protection, sensation, vitamin d production, regulate body temperature
Skin layers: Epidermis: stratum corneum (dead skin), stratum granulosum (keratinized cells), stratum spinosum (3rd layer), stratum basale (deepest layer) Dermis Hypodermis: subcutaneous layer, adipose tissue
What is pH? a measure of how acidic or basic a substance or solution is, 7 is netural, less than 7 mean more acidic, more than 7 basic
Four part of major body oraganization cells, tissues, organs, and systems
Homeostasis self-regulating process by which a living organism can maintain internal stability while adjusting to changing external conditions
Appendicular Skeleton- Upper extremities lavicle, Scapula, Humerus, Radius, Ulna, Carpal bones, Metacarpal bones, Phalanges
