What are the levels of organization? 1. Atom 2. Molecule 3. Organelle level 4. Cellular level 5. Tissue level 6. Organ level/organ system level 7. Organism level
What are the anatomical positions? Superior means toward the head / inferior means toward the feet Anterior means front / posterior means back Medial means toward the midline / lateral means away from midline. Proximal / distal Superficial / Deep
What is a covalent bond? bond formed by the sharing of one or more pairs of electrons between the outer energy levels of two atoms
What levels of pH are neutrality, acidity and alkalinity? pH of 7 indicates neutrality pH of less than 7 indicates acidity pH of greater than 7 indicates alkalinity
What are the 3 main parts of a cell? the cell membrane, the nucleus, and the cytoplasm.
Three types of direct cell connections? Desmosome, gap junctions and tight junctions
What are the four principal types of tissue? Epithelial tissue Connective Tissue Muscle Tissue Nervous tissue
What are the three layers of skin? Epidermis, the top layer. Dermis, the middle layer. Hypodermis, the bottom or fatty layer.
What is the 5 functions of bones? Support, protection, movement, mineral storage and hematopoiesis.
What are the 2 divisions of a human skeleton? Axial and appendicular
