Epiglottis Prevents food from entering the larynx
Thyroid Cartilage Protects glottis (entrance to larynx and trachea)
Arytenoid Cartilage Helps with opening/closing the glottis and the production of sound
Trachea Passageway for air moving to/from the lungs
Larynx Sound production and passageway for air
Lungs Site of gas exchange
Heart Pumps blood
Diaphragm Major muscle for inhalation
Pulmonary trunk Pumps deoxygenated blood to the lungs
Primary bronchus Passageway for air; 1 per lung
Tertiary bronchus Passageway for air; 1 per bronchopulmonary segment
Esophagus Passageway for food to the stomach
Secondary bronchus Passageway for air; 1 per lobe
Right pulmonary Artery Carries deoxygenated blood to the lungs (from right ventricle)
Right pulmonary vein Carried oxygenated blood to the left atrium to be pumped to the body
Left pulmonary artery Carries deoxygenated blood to the lungs (from right ventricle)
Left pulmonary vein Carries oxygenated blood to the left atrium to be pumped to the body.
Pulmonary trunk Carries deoxygenated blood to the lungs
Cricoid Cartilage Protects glottis and opening to trachea.
False vocal folds Protects vocal fold; Also helps prevent foreign opbjects from entering the glottis
Vocal folds Produce sound
Tracheal cartilage Allows it to be stiff but still bend
