Transverse | Break is along a transverse plane |
Oblique | Break is along an oblique plane |
Comminuted | Bone breaks into many fragments |
Compact | Bone ends are forced into each other, also called a buckle fracture |
Spiral | break occurs due to the twisting of at least one end of the bone, usually an athletic type of injury |
Compression fracture of the spine | It is common in individuals with osteoporosis. Often no identifiable injury causes it. This results in significant pain and disability. |
Compound Fractures | broken bone end pushes through skin |
Open Reduction | Surgery is required to put broken pieces back together using pins, rods, screws, etc. |
