What is the name of the heart's special covering? Pericardium
What is the name of the vessel that carries blood away from the heart? Name two examples. Artery. Two examples: aorta and pulmonary trunk.
What is the name of the vessel that carries blood toward the heart? Name two examples. Vein. Two examples: superior vena cava and pulmonary veins.
What layer of the heart tissue makes up the bulk? Myocardium.
What special type of radiography visualizes arteries? Angiography.
What is the function of the sinoatrial (SA) node? Acts as the hearts pacemaker.
What does the upper respiratory tract consist of? Nose, nasopharynx, oropharynx, laryngopharynx, and larynx.
What does the lower respiratory tract consist of? Trachea, all segments of the bronchial tree, and the lungs.
What two pairs of organs are found in the oropharynx? Palatine tonsils and lingual tonsils.
What set of tonsils are most commonly removed in a tonsillectomy? Palatine tonsils.
What structure is the voice box? Larynx.
What structure is responsible for exchange of gases in the respiratory system? Alveoli.
