Facet a smooth and flattened surface of bone used to form articulations with other bones
Fissure a narrow opening or slit between two bones or other structures; important fissures are found both in the skeletal and nervous system
foramen a hole in a bone
fossa indentation or depression in the surface of a bone; typically serves as a point of articulation between two bones or as an attachment surface for tendons
gyrus a ridge or fold adjacent to a groove; used frequently in the nervous system as a companion to the term sulcus
head a large articular process found on the proximal end of the bone
ligament a band of dense collagenous connective tissue that anchors one bone to another
line an especially narrow ridge of bone; typically serves as an anchorage for ligaments and tendons
meatus the opening to a tube; (not the tube itself)

trochanter a large process process of bone; typically serves as an anchorage for ligaments and tendons
