Anatomy week 1-5

What is the defenition of Anatomy? To cut apart
What are the eleven major systems that compose the human body? Integumentary, skeletal, muscular, nervous, endocrine, cardiovascular, lymphatic/immune, respiratory, digestive, urinary, and reproductive.
Anterior means: "Front" or "in front of"
Posterior means: "Back" or "in back of"
Medial means: "Toward the midline of the body"
Lateral means: "Toward the side of the body, or away from its midline"
Proximal means: "Toward or nearest the trunk of the body, or nearest the point of origin of one of its parts"
Distal means: "Away from or farthest from the trunk or the point of origin of a body part"
Superficial means: "Nearer the surface"
Deep means: "Farther from the body surafe"
What force holds two bonds together? A chemical bond
An atomic number tells us what? The number of protons in the nucleus
What percent do the elements carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, and nitrogen compose the human body? 96%
What is an organelle? Many cell "organs" or organized structures example: ribosome or mitochondrion
What determines our skin color? Melanin
What tissue in our body, do we have in abundace? Connective tissue
