JAY YOO anatomy

week 1-6

TermDefinition
pH crucial measure that indicates the acidity or basicity of aqueous solutions, including various liquid mixtures. It is determined by the concentration of hydrogen ions present in the solution
The plasma membrane functions as the security guard of the cell, monitoring and controlling the movement of materials in and out of the cell. By doing so, it maintains order and safety within the cell itself.
ribosomes intercellular structure made of both RNA and protein, and it is the site of protein synthesis in the cell
Stratum Granulosum layer where cells begin to flatten and accumulate dense granules of keratohyalin and lamellar bodies. The lamellar bodies release lipids, forming a barrier to prevent water loss.
Stratum Spinosum This layer is known for its spiny appearance due to the presence of desmosomes, which help the cells adhere to each other and provide structural strength
Lysosomes membrane-bound organelle within a cell that functions as the cell's "waste disposal system" by containing digestive enzymes which break down worn-out cell parts, cellular debris, and ingested materials from outside the cell
Peroxisomes specialized for carrying out oxidative reactions using molecular oxygen
Stratum Lucidum This thin, transparent layer is only present in thick skin (such as the palms and soles). The cells are dead, flattened, and packed with eleidin, a clear protein that eventually becomes keratin
Stratum Corneum The outermost layer consists of fully keratinized, dead cells that are flattened and stacked. These cells are constantly shed and replaced. They form a protective barrier against environmental damage, pathogens, and water loss
transversus abdominis a flat muscle that runs horizontally across the abdomen, from the back to the front, and is the deepest of the abdominal muscles
rectus abdominis makes up the top layer of your abdominal muscles, commonly referred to as your "six-pack

When you've placed seven or more cards in the Don't know box, click "retry" to try those cards again.

If you've accidentally put the card in the wrong box, just click on the card to take it out of the box.

You can also use your keyboard to move the cards as follows:

If you are logged in to your account, this website will remember which cards you know and don't know so that they are in the same box the next time you log in.

When you need a break, try one of the other activities listed below the flashcards like Matching, Snowman, or Hungry Bug. Although it may feel like you're playing a game, your brain is still making more connections with the information to help you out.
