What is muscle fatigue? The decline in ability of a muscle to generate force, often due to prolonged activity.
What is the difference between fast-twitch and slow-twitch muscle fibers? Fast-twitch fibers are for quick, powerful movements; slow-twitch fibers are for endurance.
What is an example of an involuntary muscle? The heart a cardiac muscle or muscles in the digestive tract smooth muscle.
What is the role of the neuromuscular junction? To transmit nerve impulses to muscle fibers, causing contraction.
What is muscle atrophy? The decrease in muscle mass due to inactivity or disease.
What is muscle hypertrophy? The increase in muscle size due to exercise.
What is the sliding filament theory? The explanation of how muscles contract by sliding actin over myosin filaments.
What proteins are involved in muscle contraction? Actin and Myosin.
What is the basic unit of a muscle called? Sarcomere.
What is a muscle fiber? A single muscle cell, known for its long, cylindrical shape.
What connects muscles to bones? Tendons.
What is the role of smooth muscle? To control involuntary movements in organs like the intestines and blood vessels.
Where is cardiac muscle found? In the walls of the heart.
What is the primary function of skeletal muscles? To facilitate movement by contracting and pulling on bones.
