Third Degree Burn Three + layers of skin burned; Charred skin, no pain; 3 + weeks to heal
Eczema Red itchy skin, dry skin, red patches; Tx–Prevention, avoid triggers, keep skin moisturized
Herpes Virus; Type 1–Cold sores; Type 2–Genital; Tx–Antiviral, no cure, can put in remission
MRSA\nMethicillin–Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus Antibiotic resistant pathogen; 1/3 people are colonized with it; Tx–stronger antibiotics
Scabies Insects that bore under the epidermis; Tx–Wash items that are infected, topical creams to kill the insect
Squamous cell carcinoma Skin Cancer; Grows rapidly and metastasizes to the lymph nodes; Tx–surgical removal or radiation
Basal cell carcinoma Skin Cancer; Most common, least malignant; Usually on face; Tx–Surgical removal or radiation
Malignant Melanoma Skin Cancer, occurs in the melanocytes; Metastasizes quickly, mole that changes quickly; Tx–Surgical removal, chemo and radiation
Psoriasis Auto–immune disorder; Scaly patches on skin; Tx–immune suppressants
Impetigo Highly contagious, caused by bacteria; Yellow crusty sores Tx–Antibiotics
